And other FAQ's

First and for-most, CBD is short for Cannbidiol, a type of cannabinoid that is most commonly found in cannabis. With the recent buzz around the many health benefits of CBD more and more research is being done to understand it. We know that CBD has a positive impact on an array of health issues, ranging from anxiety and depression to chronic pain and autoimmune disorders such as MS. All human beings have what is called an “Endocannabinoid System”. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids which have wide-ranging effects on our nervous system, our memory, our immune system, etc. Research has shown that CBD in particular promotes homeostasis, how we maintain equilibrium in our internal physiological systems. What is also known about CBD is that it encourages our body to use our own cannabinoids rather than mimicking them. This is quite profound as it is simply allowing the body to rely on what it's already producing and prepared to receive. CBD has been found to be anti-inflammatory, pain reducing, and anti-spasmodic, promoting healing and injury prevention.

Where does it come from?

CBD is most commonly extracted from cannabis, or industrial hemp, though we are finding there are several other plant species that also produce CBD. There are many extraction methods, some far better than others. The products I use are from Frog Song Farm. Their extraction method is meticulously and safely done with organic food grade cane ethanol. Their farming practices are not only organic, they are biodynamic, taking great care of the land itself as well as their plants. Their Industrial hemp is different from the cannabis one can pick up from a dispensary in that it has been specifically bred to contain only 0.3% THC, which is the popular cannabinoid that is psychoactive. At Frog Song Farms, their hemp is regularly tested to make sure these THC levels are not higher than 0.3%. Learn more about Frog Song Farm HERE.

Will CBD get me “high”?

NO!! CBD does NOT have a psychoactive effect. Although there is 0.3% THC in these products it is NOT enough to alter your state of mind and VERY unlikely to be detectable on a drug test. It should also be noted that when using any cannabis product topically you would not be susceptible to getting “stoned” because THC cannot pass the blood-brain barrier through the skin. Point three percent THC is an amount arrived at by many states like Washington because it is such a negligible amount. CBD WILL NOT GET YOU HIGH. PERIOD. And neither will any of Frog Song Farm's products.

Why do I use it?

Similar to the use of arnica in my massage practice as well as other helpful essential oils, CBD only makes natural sense to me to use in tandem with bodywork. I am inspired by the positive impact it has on my clients and myself. In my own experience I have found relief from the discomfort of my rolled ankle as it heals. I also have found my quality of sleep as improved. As an LMT I find the tissues I apply Frog Song Farm's 750mg CBD to, usually become more pliable and ready for deeper work quicker. I greatly appreciate that I can offer such a high quality product to my clients. I take comfort in knowing they have a powerful resource that they can use on their own, supporting their health and wellbeing beyond our session together.

Why Frog Song Farms?

They are simply the best. I am not exaggerating. I went to their farm near SE Portland to conduct my own research and left feeling blown away and inspired by the quality and intentionality of their product. They are committed to non-toxic farming practices right down to the health of their soil reaching into to their extraction process with organic food-grade cane ethanol. This type of extraction allows for other benefiting compounds to remain in their products like terpines and flavonoids in a non-toxic way, as many other extraction processes use harmful chemicals. They know how to extract their CBD in a way that allows for high potency and heat it to the perfect temperature making it even more available for the body to receive. They are a local family farm filled with integrity from start to finish. I make orders regularly so let me know if you'd like to purchase some of their products through me. You can also order online!
